Worker Safety and Compliance

In July 2010, OSHA responded to a letter specifically asking if a bevel could be ground onto a cut piece of pipe with the same tool that is used to cut the pipe, a cut-off saw. OSHA responded that this industry practice is prohibited and against its construction standards.

The Bevel-Sert was specifically designed to eliminate this unsafe beveling practice by providing a pre-designed bevel onto the cut end of a piece of pipe, thereby greatly reducing the time and cost of this part of the infrastructure project.

It takes seconds to install a Bevel-Sert into any size pipe from 4” – 16”.

Because of its ease of installation, gone are the days where an infrastructure installation or repair needs to expose the worker to known safety hazards. Also, gone are the days where an electrical or pneumatic power source to the job site is needed, both of which can take up valuable cargo space.

Municipalities, private water and sewer companies, contractors and water departments can now insure that their installation crews have the solution that improves worker safety.

It is equally important to note that the method of beveling pipe with cut-off saws puts workers at an unacceptable injury risk and is contrary to OSHA regulations. The use of the Bevel-Sert will help to ensure the safety of the pipe installers, thereby reducing insurance costs. Click into the OSHA letter to learn more about this.

Infra-Tect’s Bevel-Sert is a pre-beveled, NSF 61 HDPE-compliant insert ring that fits between the two pipes. Its takes seconds to install by hand and:

Infra-Tect Worker Safety
  • It improves worker safety as it requires no beveling process or equipment.
  • It saves anywhere from 30% – 90% in installation costs compared to the current costs involved in beveling and installation.
  • It requires 70% less assembly force and reduces the frequency of cut, rolled, or damaged gaskets, the latter which occurs with field-cut pipes.

What does this mean for you?
You can now eliminate the beveling process and improve worker safety with Bevel-Sert and save significant time and costs when installing pipes and repairing water main breaks.
